Top 5 - Job interview songs (Eurovision special)
Top 5 - Job interview songs (Eurovision special) by Michael Cheary Its that time of year againFor one night in May, you no longer have to hide your love of colourfully uncoordinated costumes, nonsensical lyrics, and even more nonsensical presenters.Whether youre a fan of supercharged Serbian ska music, Bulgarian bluegrass or pseudo-political Portuguese power-polka, Eurovision has something for everyone. As long as youre not afraid of the dreaded nul points that is.Weve already given you our list of the best songs to listen to on the way to an interview, but to help you learn to embrace your inner ABBA, heres our Eurovision special:Ooh, Aah Just a Little Bit Gina G (United Kingdom, 1996)Ooh, aah just a little bit. Ooh, aah a little bit more is a mantra we could all adopt for a more successful job search, which we can only assume was the songs intention. After all, with positivity like that, how can you fail?Unfortunately, Gina only managed eighth place in 1996.Party for Everybody Buranovskiye Babushki (Russia, 2012)Sometim es, to find the best advice, you need to seek experience. And if youre a fan of Buranovskiye Babushki, youre in luck. The 484 year old* girl group have it in abundance. Also available for tips on baking, knitting, and how to make your own shoes out of tree bark (seriously).*combined ageMaking Your Mind Up Bucks Fizz (United Kingdom, 1981) Advantages: Upbeat, positive, uplifting.Disadvantages: May make you rethink your interview outfit (Long skirt? Short skirt? Wait a minute)Waterloo ABBA (Sweden, 1974)Ok, so we admit that lyrically this one has very few inspirational qualities. If anything, it may even be a little defeatist (My only chance is giving up the fight etc.)But for sheer catchiness, and for launching a super-trouping Scandinavian singing phenomenon, this deserves a place on any list.My Lovely Horse Father Ted (Ireland/Craggy Island, 1996) Our twelve points has to go to this classic. Undoubtedly the greatest song ever written about a horse. Youre welcome.Honourable mentio ns: Boom Bang-a-Bang (United Kingdom, 1969), Ding-a-dong (Netherlands, 1975), Diggy-Loo, Diggy-Ley (Sweden, 1984), any other songs with a catchy beat and no meaning whatsoever. Songs to avoid: Puppet on a String (United Kingdom, 1967), Running Scared (Azerbaijan, 2011), Cry Baby (Jemini a.k.a. United Kingdom, 2003), anything by Jedward.Think theres any weve missed?
